Subject: INQUA grant: Humans and natural hazards TERPRO commission
Hello there,
I'm writing to remind you that INQUA welcomes proposals for scientific
projects related to the Quaternary. The next deadline for proposal
submission is 5 January 2009.
Guidelines for the proposals are available at
<http://www.inqua.tcd.ie/projects_guidelines.html>
Grants to support Commission-approved projects are usually limited to a
few thousand dollars a year per project. These funds are designed primarily
as "seed money" to assist project leaders to apply for additional funding
from various sources to meet their full needs.
Recent grants have been awarded for partial support of:
1. International project workshops
2. Project-related travels for younger scientists
3. Projects in third-world countries or in eastern European countries
4. International project groups in parts of the world where there is a lack
of important field data
5. Projects of importance within INQUA Commissions. Normally no grant will
be allocated for Project newsletters, project publications,
or web sites. We ask project leaders to publish their
results in Quaternary International or other established journals.
No major grant will be allocated for scientific equipment
or analysis. (see the INQUA Statutes and Bye-Laws at
<http://www.inqua.tcd.ie/statutes.html> for further
information)
Funding is not given to cover field work costs.
The forms that must be used and specific instructions for submission are
available at <http://www.inqua.tcd.ie/forms.html>
More information on the TERPRO and on the focus group on " Humans and
natural hazards" can be found on http://terpro.dri.edu/
Please let me know if I can provide help or advice.
Best regards,
Suzanne Leroy
TERPRO vice-president, in charge of the focus group on "Humans and natural
hazards"
