*Short course announcement - Introductory Archaeological Geophysics
10-17 November 2008
Flinders University, Adelaide

**
In recent years the Department of Archaeology at Flinders University has
established a vibrant program in archaeological geophysics with ongoing
research projects centred around historical, maritime, Indigenous and
forensic sites. Drawing on this experience and expertise geophysicist
Ian Moffat and archaeologist Lynley Wallis present an eight day short
course designed to introduce participants to the variety of geophysical
techniques available for sub-surface imaging, including ground
penetrating radar, electromagnetic induction and magnetometer. We
provide introductory theoretical and hands-on training in geophysical
techniques to ensure archaeologists are aware of the opportunities and
limitations of these methods, thereby facilitating a better result when
applied.
The course will be run over eight days from 10-17 November (inclusive)
at Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia and is available to
non-Flinders University participants on a fee paying basis. Further
details and application forms can be found online at
http://ehlt.flinders.edu.au/archaeology/fieldwork/field_schools/geophysics/index.php;
in order to ensure the best possible access to equipment there are
limited places available and these will be allocated on a first come basis.
