Allen & Unwin has just released "The Bone Readers: Atoms, genes and
the politics of Australia's deep past", a book co-authored by
radiocarbon dating experts Claudio Tuniz and Richard Gillespie, and
science journalist Cheryl Jones. The book analyses the biggest
controversies surrounding Australian prehistory, arguing that many
popular theories are based on misinterpretation or distortion of
scientific evidence. It puts Australia centrestage in international
debates on the evolution and dispersal of our species, and on early
human environmental impacts, drawing parallels between the Australian
and the American and European scenes.
"The Bone Readers" is a popular science book but would also interest
students of prehistory and researchers wanting to explore the
landscape around their fields. It is available in bookstores and
online at www.allenandunwin.com/default.aspx?page=94&book=9781741147285 ]
