PAGES (Past Global Changes) seeks nominations for several new
Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) members before 1 JUNE 2009.

The SSC provides guidance for the PAGES project as a whole and
oversees major scientific activities.

Members are chosen based on scientific excellence and status in their
communities, as well as to provide a balance of paleoscientific
expertise and national representation.

In this round, PAGES is particularly interested in scientists from
the Southern Hemisphere, and those who will actively work to drive
forward the recently completed Science Plan and Implementation
Strategy (http://www.pages-igbp.org/science/).

To nominate a paleoscientist (no self-nominations), please send the
following Word files by email to PAGES Executive Director, Thorsten
Kiefer (kiefer at pages.unibe.ch):
* A nomination letter (1 page)
* The nominee's cv (max. 6 pages)
* 2 letters of support from scientists within PAGES research areas
(each max. 1 page)
* A statement from the nominee on their goals and plans for PAGES as
an SSC member (max. 1 page)

A list of current SSC members and further details on the nomination
procedure can be found at:
http://www.pages-igbp.org/people/sscmembers/

Please pass this email on to anyone you think might be interested.
Thanks.
