Dear all,

A new committee was elected at the AGM held on 12 July. The new
committee is:

President: Peter Almond

Immediate Past President: Patrick Moss

Vice President: Craig Sloss

Secretary: Craig Woodward

Treasurer: Steven Phipps

Jessica Reeves and Kat Fitzsimons will stay on as co-editors of QA

Tim Barrows will also remain as Information Technology Editor

Matt Cupper will remain as Public Officer

 

We are also pleased to announce the winners of the prizes for
presentations and posters

1st Prize: $3000 towards student attendance at INQUA 2011, Bern,
Switzerland. Ms Louise Callard for her presentation of her PhD research:
The last glacial maximum and deglaciations in southern New Zealand: new
pollen-climate reconstructions. 

 

2nd Prize: Attendance at Science meets Parliament. Ms Lydia Mackenzie
for her presentation of her Honours research: Environmental Change in
Freycinet National Park since the Last Glacial Maximum.

 

3rd Prize: $500 to Ms Lynda Petherick for her presentation of her PhD
research: Multi-proxy, high resolution record of the Last Glacial
Maximum in eastern Australia.

 

The Poster Prize ($500) went to Ms Anna Habeck for her presentation of
her Honours research: A sequence stratigraphy framework for the
Castlepoint Formation at Castlepoint, New Zealand.
