Future looks bright for Fulbright Scholar
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity awaits this year’s winner of the
Fulbright Scholarship being offered by the Australian Nuclear Science and
Technology Organisation (ANSTO).
Valued at up to $A 40,000, the Fulbright Scholarship is for Australian
citizens wishing to carry out research or study in the United States of
America in nuclear science or technology. The winner will also get an
unrivalled opportunity for Australians seeking professional development in
the United States.
The Fulbright Program is one of the largest and most prestigious
educational exchange programs in the world. The Australian-American
Fulbright Commission is one of over 50 Fulbright Commissions in the world
who work with the United States Department of State to facilitate the
Fulbright Program between the United States and 155 countries worldwide.
Fulbright Professional Scholarships are available for junior to mid-career
professionals, poised for advancement to a senior role from the private,
public and not-for-profit sectors, or junior to middle level academics
whose professional focus is industry related.
The Fulbright Scholar will receive $5,200 per month (tax free in
Australia) for a maximum period of six months and costs for international
travel up to at $6,300.
As well as providing financial support, the Fulbright Scholarship supports
a program of professional development in Australia and the United States,
including orientation programs and opportunities for networking with
Australian, U.S. and international Fulbright Scholars and alumni.
Applications for Fulbright Australian Scholarships for 2011 will open 1
June 2010 and will close 31 August 2010. Applicants need to be Australian
