'Geography on the edge' July 3 - 6, 2011
Themed Session: Coastal hazards and geomorphology
This session invites contributions investigating driving mechanism behind coastal hazards and landscape change. This includes changes in sea level, sediment supply, geomorphology, human interaction and extreme marine events (e.g. tsunami and storm impacts). Determining impacts of the driving mechanisms behind coastal change is vital in understanding how coastal systems operate today and the potential impacts of environmental change and extreme events in the future. Accordingly this session will have a wide interest to the Quaternary, Earth Science, and marine scientists. Its strong applied component will be directly relevant to coastal managers concerned with coastal forecasting and future sea-level change as well as those investigating human adaption to sea level and coastal landscape change.
