62nd Meeting of Nobel Laureates (dedicated to Physics) from 1 - 6 July, 2012

The Australian Academy of Science has invited the National Committee for Quaternary Research to submit one nomination of a young Australian scientist in the final years of their PhD, to attend the 62nd Meeting of Nobel Laureates in Lindau, Germany, 1 - 6 July, 2012. The 2012 meeting is dedicated to Physics. Within the Quaternary realm this would be particularly of interest to those who have been involved with geophysics, modelling, remote sensing, or a geochemistry background.
For more information on the Meetings of Nobel Laureates in Lindau go to http://www.lindau-nobel.org/WebHome.AxCMS <http://www.lindau-nobel.org/WebHome.AxCMS><http://www.lindau-nobel.org/WebHome.AxCMS> .

A short-list (maximum of 7 nominations) will be recommended for final selection by the Council of Nobel Laureate Meetings. The successful candidates will receive a travel grant from the Academy of up to $AUD 2,000 toward travel costs to Lindau. Accommodation and registration costs will be covered by the Council for Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.

In addition, successful candidates are invited and expected to attend Science at the Shine Dome, an annual celebration of science held at the Academy of Science, Canberra 2 - 4 May 2012. This will involve briefings for the selected young scientists by Fellows of the Academy prior to the Lindau meeting. A travel grant of up to $500 will be provided by the Academy to assist with travel and accommodation costs. The registration fee, including attendance at specific Early Career Researcher events, is covered by the Academy.

Please contact Dr Craig Sloss for Nomination forms. Deadline for the return of nomination forms is by Monday the 14th of November, 2011.
