Dear Quaternariests,

We are seeking a keen new recruit to assist with editorship of the AQUA journal, Quaternary Australasia. This role will involve working jointly with Kat Fitzsimmons on the following:

- soliciting contributions for each issue - including peer-reviewed articles; reports on conferences, field trips, workshops and events; book reviews; extended abstracts; thesis abstracts; news and notices of upcoming events;
- ensuring there is sufficient material for each issue, and that contributors meet deadlines;
- coordinating peer reviews for research papers (at present research papers are reviewed by two reviewers);
- editing other contributions;
- ensuring all contributions are of satisfactory quality for publication (including resolution of any figures or photos);
- collating all contributions for each issue;
- liaising with graphic designer regarding production of print-ready proof;
- final editing of proof;
- liaising with printers;
- coordinating distribution of issues (including envelope stuffing and postage, printing address labels for members (liaison with AQUA Secretary), ensuring payment of invoices for production (liaison with AQUA Treasurer));
- fielding emails from interested parties and advertisers...

It's a big job, but when shared, the load is not so bad. It's certainly worthwhile, and a great opportunity to keep in the loop about Quaternary research and activities in our region!

The new recruit will need to be based either in Australia or New Zealand, to assist with printing and distribution.

The new joint editor will work alongside Jess and myself for the first issue of their term.

Could any potentially interested people please get in touch with me in the first instance to discuss options, which we will then take to the AQUA Executive.

Cheers,
Kat
