Workshop announcement: ‘Biomarkers and isotopes in sedimentary organic matter to understand past climate and ecosystems: an Australian perspective’
4th February 2013
AINSE lecture theatre, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, New Illawarra Road, Lucas Heights, NSW.
This 1-day workshop will cover applications of biomarker and compound specific isotope analyses to study past terrestrial ecosystems and climate. With recent improvements in capabilities of commercially available instruments, a wider suite of chemical biomarkers and isotopes are available for study. This workshop will include discussion on current techniques for quantitative reconstruction of temperature and precipitation using sedimentary organic matter. Participants from a diverse range of palaeoecological disciplines are encouraged to attend.
The workshop will include presentations, discussion and tours of ANSTO facilities.
Keynote presenters:
Martijn Woltering (WA Organic and Isotope Centre, Curtin University, Perth) and Julian Sachs (School of Oceanography, University of Washington, Seattle)
Cost and registration:
The registration fee is $33. This will cover lunch and morning/afternoon teas. Please email Pia Atahan to register your interest in attending the workshop (pia.atahan at ansto.gov.au<mailto:pia.atahan at ansto.gov.au>).
