The School of Geography, Environment & Earth Sciences, at Victoria University of Wellington (VUW), New Zealand, is offering a
PostDoc Position in Quaternary Science

Commencing on or after Feb 1st 2013,  the position will be awarded for three years.

This position presents an exceptional opportunity to early career scientists  working in one or more of the following fields: paleoecology, paleoclimatology, sedimentology, geochronology.

It is expected that the successful applicant will devote 50% of their time to developing and realising their own research projects, and 50% to supporting and extending the host employer’s ongoing research and teaching activities in Quaternary environmental change. The latter wopuld include assisting Masters and PhD projects and contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes in physical geography at VUW. In short, this provides an excellent opportunity for an early career researcher in Quaternary Science who is targeting an acedemic career. You would gain invaluable experience working in an academic institution, including delivering lecturing programmes whilst at the same time pursuing your own research interests in collaboration with other Quaternary scientists.

Requirements are:

  *   PhD in any field related to Quaternary Science
  *   Experience in numerical analysis of palaeocological, biological or sedimentological data
  *   Proficiency in programming in ‘R’
  *   Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
