Casual Research Assistant needed for the University of Melbourne Palaeoecology Laboratory.
1 to 2 days per week for a 6 month period (possibly longer). Starting ASAP. Pay scale University of Melbourne RA1 casual hourly rate ($39.49p/h).
Tasks include a mixture of lab work, data management and administration.
The applicant must:
(1) be proficient at Microsoft Excel and capable of handling and organising very large datasets.
(2) be able to both follow instruction and work independently.
(3) have excellent communication skills.
(4) be familiar with the overall concept and application of Palaeoecology and scientific analysis of sediment cores (pollen, charcoal, geochemistry).
(5) be comfortable and adaptable when working in a busy and dynamic environment.
(6) have excellent organisational skills.
Desired:
(1) excellent writing skills.
(2) ability to use R.
(2) proficient at webpage management.
