Dear AQUALIST members,
Research Articles
Quaternary Australia welcomes research articles for inclusion in QA. Research articles are peer-reviewed. Research manuscripts are always welcome, but research articles can also include:
· Reviews
· short letters or communications (places worth a visit, events, good books to read, extended student abstracts, obituaries, “where are they now ?”, interesting things discovered during research projects (perhaps by accident alongside existing research!))
· Research in progress
· Methodologies or laboratory notes
· Small projects
· Fieldwork reports
· Case studies etc.
Research articles are a good first option for ECR early work or Honours publication of abstracts or papers in progress.
QA has its own ISSN, so the peer reviewed papers are considered bona fide research output and good for listing on things like grant applications and CVs.
QA is perfect for articles that have a specific regional scope, as it is well read by the Australasian community.
Examples of recent research articles include:
Dec 2014 Research Note: A reconnaissance of low elevation block deposits on Maria Island, Tasmania. Adrian Slee and Kevin Kiernan
Dec 2013 Quaternary geoarchaeology in the Olympic Dam desert area –a program overview. Marjorie Sullivan and Philip Hughes
July 2013 Comments on: Slee et al. (2012). A reassessment of Last Interglacial deposits at Mary Ann Bay, Tasmania. Quaternary Australasia 29: 4‒11. Colin V. Murray-Wallace, Eric A. Colhoun, Albert Goede and Patrick G. Quilty.
Reply to Murray-Wallace et al. (2013): Comments on a paper by Slee et al. (2012). A reassessment of Last Interglacial deposits at Mary Ann Bay, Tasmania. P.D. McIntosh, D.M. Price, S. Grove and A.J. Slee
July 2011 Laboratory notes: on extraction of pollen and silica microfossils from clay-sand rich sediments of semi-arid lakes and dunes. Lucy Gayler.
Dec 2009 Extended abstract: a multidisciplinary approach to the study of an archaeological site: the case of Riparo Dalmeri (Trentino, Italy). Romina Belli, Silvia Frisia, Russell Drysdale, Andrea Borsato
While the submission deadline for research articles in QA July 2016 is imminent, you may have an article ready to go. If so, please forward to editor at aqua.org.au<mailto:editor at aqua.org.au> . Contact us if you would like to discuss a possible research article. While there is no guarantee that all submissions will make it to publication, the editorial team will endeavour to do their best.
Many thanks
