Dear AQUA members,

The abstract deadline for Goldschmidt 2017 is rapidly approaching (1st April 23:59 (CET)). It would be great to see a lot of you there. Session 17c will clearly be awesome, and relevant to this group.

17C: GEOCHEMICAL INSIGHT INTO OCEAN CHANGE DURING THE PLIO-PLEISTOCENE
Convenors: Zanna Chase<https://goldschmidt.info/2017/userView?userId=mnaanLLpunfrKKhgnfLLrqhLLnh>, Norbert Frank<https://goldschmidt.info/2017/userView?userId=abeoregLLsenaxKKvhcLLhavMMurvqryoretLLqr>
Keynote: Haug Gerald (Max Planck Institute for Chemistry)

Changes in earth’s climate over the past ~5 million years have had a profound impact on the oceans, and in turn, ocean change played a key role in shaping Earth’s climate during this time. Advances in geochemistry have been critical to the development of our understanding of the interplay between oceans and climate during the Pliocene, Pleistocene and Holocene, on glacial-interglacial, millennial, and centennial time-scales. This session invites contributions that explore the geochemical archives that record ocean history over the past 5 million years. We are interested in all aspects of ocean change, including nutrient, carbon and oxygen cycling, biological productivity and composition, ocean circulation, sea-level change, and ice-ocean interactions. Advances in proxy and age-model development are also encouraged as are contributions of data synthesis and modelling relevant to the paleoceanography of this time period.
