Dear everyone,

It is with a heavy heart that I just received this email from Phil Jones at
UEA.


Below is part of an email Tim Osborn sent around CRU yesterday evening.


*It's with a heavy heart that I'm writing this email to let you know that
our very dear friend and colleague Keith passed away this morning.*


*Keith passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, having gone
back into hospital a week ago.  For the last three days he was asleep, so
it seems that it was not distressing for him.  Sarah and his daughters Amy
and Kirsten have been with him all week.*

This is heart breaking news. Keith was a wonderful man and a fantastic
scientist. He will be sorely missed by so many of us.
