Hi AQUA folk,

For those who have not met me, I am the AQUA treasurer. I am also in charge of membership, and would like to invite any of you who are not current members of AQUA to sign up. This is a great way to support the AQUA community, and also gets you access to our biannual publication, Quaternary Australasia. QA is always a great read, and features a mix of research articles, conference and workshop reports, news items, relevant thesis abstracts, and other good stuff.

Aside from the usual perks of membership, there are a couple of extra reasons for you to sign up this year. We will be holding our biennial meeting in December this year – this is a relatively informal gathering, where we encourage students and early career researchers to present their research. To facilitate this, AQUA offers grants to subsidise travel costs for students and early stage researchers who may not otherwise have the means to attend the meeting. To be eligible to apply for one of these grants, you will need to be a financial member of AQUA. We will let you know of further details a bit closer to the date of the meeting.

On the horizon also is the four-yearly INQUA congress – this fantastic event will be held in Dublin mid-next year, and AQUA offers grants to support the travel of students/ECRs to this congress. Again, to apply for these awards, you will need to be a financial member of AQUA. But it would also be great to have a nice big AQUA contingent in attendance!
