What a fabulous idea Anthony. Could we have a recognition award for an indigenous female too, even if not a worker/member of AQUA in Quaternary Science but ... along the lines of a contribution to science of relevance to AQUA?
Cheers
Sanja

Hi Helen and AQUA,
Great idea! Along these lines, I wonder if AQUA could have an award system (to recognise long term contributions, early career researchers,...) and perhaps be the first professional society with all awards named after women and non-white researchers?
To my colleagues rolling their eyes... the purpose of this is not to ignore the critical contributions of past white men, but to provide diverse role models to a diverse scientific community.
Having all awards named after white men (like most societies) creates an image of success that is not inclusive for the vast section of our community that doesn't identify as white and/or male (basically, that sends the vibe that to succeed you need to be a white man... which has been true for... ever, but this is fortunately changing).

Dear All, We need your help....
A few of us have been brainstorming the idea of an article in the next Quaternary Australasia (end of 2021) about past Australasian/NZ Female Quaternarists that have contributed to our community.
This could include researchers and technicians, local community members that have contributed to specific projects, from the Quaternary and perhaps Archaeology disciplines. We would love your input and ideas and if you have any photos and could write a paragraph about the person.
If you could send ideas/suggestions and photos and a paragraph to H.Bostock at uq.edu.au<mailto:H.Bostock at uq.edu.au<mailto:H.Bostock at uq.edu.au%3cmailto:H.Bostock at uq.edu.au>>. If we could get these by Late August to compile into an article. We will send out a reminder nearer the time.
Regards
