Dear AQUAlist,
We have had a lot of interest in the upcoming AQUA virtual conference and are looking forward to an action packed 2 days of Quaternary Science. If you would like to listen in to the conference, please register via this AQUA website https://aqua.org.au/conference/aqua-2021-virtual-conference/registration/. After you have registered you will receive an email with the zoom link. You can find out what exciting talks will be on offer in the Schedule attached and download the full abstract booklet from the AQUA website https://aqua.org.au/aqua-2021-schedule-abstract-booklet/.
We are also pleased to announce that our two keynote speakers for this virtual event will be Dr. Amy Prendagast (University of Melbourne) and Dr. Shaun Eaves (Victoria University Wellington).
All sessions are being run on Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) with the keynote presentations beginning at 8:30AM AEST Thursday 8th July and 9:00AM Friday 9th July. The AQUA AGM will be held on Thursday the 9th at 1:30PM, directly after the lunch break. If anyone is interested in becoming more involved in the AQUA committee please contact our President Lynda Petherick (lynda.petherick at vuw.ac.nz<mailto:lynda.petherick at vuw.ac.nz>) to discuss the options available. AQUA is always looking for more involvement from ECRs and MCRs and there will be several shadow positions looking to be filled at this AGM.
Finally, up to 4 internship awards will be awarded for the best student and ECR (less than 7 yrs post-PhD, not including interruptions) presentations given across the 2 days. These generous internship awards are being offered by CABAH<https://epicaustralia.org.au/> (Centre for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage) and the CHRONOS<https://www.bees.unsw.edu.au/about-us/facilities/chronos-14carbon-cycle-facility> 14Carbon-Cycle facility (UNSW). The awards will provide the opportunity to undertake radiocarbon pre-treatment and measurement on 10 of your samples at the UNSW CHRONOS facility (and will include a contribution to travel expenses). Please send an email to z.thomas at unsw.edu.au<mailto:z.thomas at unsw.edu.au> if you would like more information on these awards.
Looking forward to seeing you all this Thursday,
The organising committee
(Lynda, Annie, Priya, Michelle and Haidee)
