Hello AQUA members,
I'd like to direct your attention to the following session for the INQUA
2023 Rome Congress that you may consider submitting an abstract to.
*Session 145: Climate Records from Coastal Systems*
*Convenors: *Daniel Ellerton, Chantel Nixon, James Shulmeister, Malin
Kylander
*Session Description: *
The coastal zone is a dynamic landscape that is sensitive to changes in
terrestrial, oceanic, and atmospheric processes. Coastal dunes and beach
barrier systems are economically and ecologically significant and contain
important archives of past environmental change; they are also prone to
disturbance. With predicted increases in storminess and coastal impacts
related to changes in major oscillatory systems such as ENSO, NAO and the
IPO under various climate-change scenarios, insights into the responses of
different coastal systems to disturbance are urgently needed. Anthropogenic
pressure stemming from land use (e.g., agriculture, tourism, coastal
protection structures) and pollution (e.g., microplastics, heavy metals)
add another dimension to consider when interpreting recent coastal
sedimentary records. This session invites papers reconstructing the impacts
of climate change (e.g., storminess, sea-level change) and/or
paleo/historic environmental change (e.g. wave climate, anthropogenic
modifications) on coastal systems over a variety of timescales from decades
to millennia. Paleostorm reconstructions are particularly welcome.
Methodological and modelling papers that contribute to these topics are
also encouraged.
*Abstract submission:* https://inquaroma2023.org/abstract-submission/
*Abstract submission opens:* in May 2022
*Abstract submission deadline: 1 November 2022*
We look forward to seeing you in Rome!
Regards,
Daniel
