Dear All,
Please see below an opportunity for student bursaries to attend the International Applied Geochemistry Symposium, here in Adelaide in October. The theme is “Applied geochemistry for a sustainable future”, and there are certainly avenues for Quaternary scientists to contribute.
Best wishes
Jon

OFFICIAL
Dear Alan and Jon,
I am emailing you in my capacity as Chair of the Local Organising Committee of the 30th International Applied Geochemistry Symposium, which is being held in Adelaide this October. We have some great student bursaries we need applications for, and hope that you could circulate within your university network. We hope to fully or partially subsidise ALL student registrations, and also have volunteering opportunities. We are also offering workshops<https://www.iags2024.com.au/workshops> and field trips<https://www.iags2024.com.au/kapunda-trip> and may offer student places also, if we have the ability to do so. Registering for a student bursary will put applicants onto the list for any of these opportunities.
The International Applied Geochemistry Symposium is a prestigious scientific event, commonly run on a biennial basis, and is held under the auspices of the Association of Applied Geochemists (AAG) (https://www.appliedgeochemists.org<https://www.appliedgeochemists.org> ), and represents a significant gathering of geochemists from all over the world. It attracts over 250 representatives from industry, universities, research organisations, government departments and consulting companies along with a strong contingent of recent university graduates and current students. Australia hosted one of such events back in 2005, and it is a great honor to host the 30th IAGS event in Australia in 2024. This chance to host the IAGS once again in Australia will present many opportunities to advance geochemistry and its application to exploration and the environment, promote the exchange of scientific knowledge and encourage research and development, and foster geochemistry as a profession through supporting students as well.
The AAG and the IAGS 2024 are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment that welcomes and values individuals from all backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives. We firmly believe that a diverse community brings forth a multitude of ideas, experiences, and talents that are vital for advancing the field of applied geochemistry. We strive to create a symposium that promotes equal opportunities and encourages the participation of individuals irrespective of their race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, (dis)ability, or socioeconomic status. We are dedicated to ensuring that everyone feels safe, respected, and included throughout the symposium.
The Theme for the IAGS2024 is “Applied geochemistry for a sustainable future”, and the scientific program is currently being developed, and will be announced as soon as practical, but it is envisioned that the topics will cover all domains of applied geochemistry, and will attract strong abstract submission and attendance. The progress of our program development and more information can be followed on the website https://iags2024.com.au/<https://iags2024.com.au/>.
I have attached a flier, and also here is a link to the website and application form: https://www.iags2024.com.au/student-bursary<https://www.iags2024.com.au/student-bursary> Please get in touch if you have any questions.
With Thanks,
