* The Environment Research and Technology Group (ERTG) applies nuclear science and advanced analytical techniques to address critical environmental challenges. The group builds scientific capacity to understand environmental change, supports water resource management, and informs strategies to manage human impacts on the geosphere through access to unique research infrastructure and expertise.
In this role, you will lead original research in palaeoclimate, climate science, and environmental change using nuclear and isotopic methods. You will deliver high-quality scientific outcomes aligned with ANSTO's strategic priorities, provide technical advice to support climate change mitigation and adaptation, and contribute to commercial applications of research findings. Your work will advance understanding of Earth's climate system and environmental processes, ensuring research outputs have practical relevance for policy, industry, and sustainability initiatives.

Your Duties and Responsibilities
The role involves leading and conducting original research in palaeoclimate, climate science, and environmental change using nuclear and isotopic techniques. You will apply advanced climate science expertise to develop effective mitigation and adaptation solutions and create innovative methodologies that inform strategic planning and policy development. The position requires delivering high-impact research aligned with ANSTO's priorities, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and knowledge translation products, mentoring and supporting students and early-career researchers, and collaborating with stakeholders across academia, industry, and government.
