Friends,

Boas Festas to you and your family. It has been a big year for 
Timor-Leste with many lessons for everyone to learn from. As 
researchers we have the opportunity to contribute to the learning by 
sharing our reflections and research with our Timorese friends. This 
is one of the aims of this list and I encourage you to consider 
circulating details of your 2006 publications if you haven't already 
(simply email* easttimorstudies at anu.edu.au).

Thankyou to everyone who has posted to the List and shared 
information during the year. Also thanks to everyone who has 
supported and assisted with feedback and development of the List and 
the website - especially John Bowden, Michael Leach and Helen Hill.

In other news, I wish to advise that in 2007 we plan to formally 
become an Association. We recently changed our name to the 
Timor-Leste Studies Association (formerly East Timor Studies) and 
will be seeking your ideas about how the Association might develop. 
One of the priorities is increasing awareness that this List exists. 
As a researcher you will have a network of associates that might be 
interested and we would welcome them as new members so do circulate 
this email to your contacts and let them know about the Timor-Leste 
Studies Association and this List. All the information they need to 
subscribe (as well as the archives) is available from the website - 
www.etstudies-aust.org - and please, if you haven't already, enter 
the details of your research in the researchers database.
