The Education in Post-Conflict Environments: Challenges and 
Opportunities for Timor-Leste Symposium was held at the University of 
New England on 3 May 2006. The abstracts and recordings of the

The aim of the Symposium was to bring together academics, 
postgraduates and people interested in discussing the challenges and 
opportunities surrounding post-conflict environments, particularly 
though not exclusively in the context of Timor-Leste.

Themes of the Symposium were:
* Language/s and the delivery of educational programming
* Non-formal, adult and vocational education
* Friendship agreements
* International covenants and agreements
* Cultural and religious identities
* What can be learned from other post-conflict environments?
