>The Development Studies Network at the Australian National 
>University, with support from AusAID, will host a free, one-day 
>public seminar to provide in-depth information on the issues behind 
>the recent crisis in Timor-Leste; to consider options for the 
>maintenance of political and physical security and stability; and to 
>debate policies that would support stability and sustained 
>improvements in livelihoods.

>Speakers from Timor-Leste and Australia will consider the underlying 
>and immediate causes of the recent crisis, the roles of the army and 
>police, the policies of entitlements, regional rivalries, 
>communication issues, opportunities for young people, as well as 
>training and skills needs and future livelihoods. The seminar will 
>provide the opportunity to debate practical policies for the way forward.
