The National Archives offers a range of research grants for advanced
research and professional development:
Ian Maclean Award for archivists and other professionals who are interested
in archival issues
Frederick Watson Fellowship for established scholars
Margaret George Award for talented, emerging scholars
Margaret George Award
A research grant for talented, emerging scholars
Margaret George Awards commemorate the life and work of Margaret George.
They are designed to help talented, emerging scholars complete an innovative
and quality research project that:
is significant for Australian audiences
makes substantial use of our collection
Applications for the 2008 Margaret George Award are now open. Entries close
27 June 2008.

Ian Maclean Award
A research grant for archivists
The National Archives of Australia has an important national role: to
encourage excellence in the archival profession.
The National Archives of Australia offer Ian Maclean Awards to individuals
interested in conducting research that will benefit the archival and
historical profession in Australia and promote the important contribution
that archives make to society. Ian Maclean Awards commemorate the life and
work of Ian Maclean.
More than one award may be granted annually and the award is open to
overseas applicants. The principal benefit of an award for the recipient is
the opportunity to complete an innovative research project that may require
travel or time away from their regular employment. Successful applicants are
expected to actively promote the results of their research.
Applications for the 2008 Ian Maclean Award are now open. Entries close 7
March 2008.

Frederick Watson Fellowship
A research grant for established scholars
A key function of the National Archives is to promote archival research in
Australia and encourage scholarly use of the National Archives collection.
