Tetum kraik.

Dearest Friends,

La'o Hamutuk has been researching the
implications of bringing natural gas from Greater Sunrise to Timor-Leste for

more than two years. We will launch our report Sunrise LNG in Timor-Leste:
Dreams, Realities and Challenges on Monday 18 February 2008 at 9:00 am at
Memorial Hall, Farol, Dili. All are invited to attend.

The event will
include a speech by RDTL Secretary of State for Natural Resources Alfredo
Pires,
as well as a presentation summarizing the research and findings of the
report.
Translation will be provided for English and Tetum.

This 130-page report
explores the benefits and costs, the risks and opportunities that a pipeline
and
LNG plant could bring to Timor-Leste, so that our citizens and leaders can
be
better informed as they consider whether such development would be
beneficial
for the country. It identifies concrete actions to maximize benefits and
minimize risks. It does not attempt to predict what the development decision

will be. Rather, it hypothesizes that Australia, Timor-Leste, and the
companies
decide to build a pipeline to Timor-Leste and an on-shore LNG plant on the
south
coast of this country. If this is to happen, Timor-Leste's people need to
know
the advantages and disadvantages of such a project, and our government needs
act
now to receive the gains and reduce the dangers.

English copies of the
report will be available at the launching in print and on CD-ROM, as well as

summaries in Tetum. The full report will be available in Bahasa Indonesia
soon.

The report and associated materials will be readable and
downloadable from www.laohamutuk.org in a few days.

The invitation is
available at www.laohamutuk.org/images/LNGinvite.jpg.

Thank you
for your interest in this important issue.

Best

Santina Soares
