Wanted: Legal anthropologist or similar

Susan Polgruto of the USAID Democracy & Governance Office is seeking
expressions of interest or pointers to possible candidates for a program
evaluation consultancy in Timor-Leste.

She writes:

"USAID is interested in conducting an evaluation of the legal sector
programs that we have previously funded in Timor-Leste.  We currently
have programs designed to: (1) promote access to justice, (2) develop
gender responsive dispute resolution and reduce gender-based violence,
(3) strengthen the justice sector institutions financial management
capabilities and improve transparency in the court administrative
system, and (4) strengthen the legislature's role and effectiveness in
legal reform.

"We are looking for a legal anthropologist (first and foremost) - the
Timorese expertise is not necessary in this case.  As you can imagine, a
traditional lawyer (or government bureaucrat) has a completely different
perspective than a trained anthropologist."

Suitably qualified academic familiar with Timorese society may also be
considered.

Consultancy expected to start in autumn.
