Security Council Report has published an Update Report on Women, Peace and Security.
On 29 October the Council will hold an open debate on women, peace and security to discuss the latest report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of resolution 1325 and a concept paper circulated by China as president of the Council. Many delegations are expected to focus on the theme of women’s participation in peace processes–a main element of resolution 1325 on women, peace and security. At press time, Council members were about to start discussions on a draft presidential statement prepared by the UK in consultation with China. It seems likely that this will reiterate the need to increase the participation of women at all stages of a peace process. Some related possible options are also discussed in this report.
