Dear colleagues,
I was wondering if any of you could help me with information on Portuguese
nationality in Timor-Leste.
I know that Timorese born in the territory before 1975 can access Portuguese
citizenship, and have made wide use of that opportunity during the
occupation.
However, what about the post-1975 generation, and current young folks in
particular? During my 2005 visit to TL, I heard from many young people they
wanted to apply for Portugese nationality, however, telling me it had gotten
"more difficult" to get the passport.
Are there any reports or official documents with precise figures and
analysis on this issue?
Thanks so much for any response,
kind regards
Andre Borgerhoff
