TOYOTA FOUNDATION – Research Grant Program
Deadline: 13 May 2009 (postmarked date)
Up to ¥120 million over a maximum of 2 years for collaborative projects.
This year the Program is being relaunched as the Asian Neighbors Program
Special Subject "Preservation, Utilization, and Transmission of Indigenous
Documents in Asia". This year the Program covers a full range of materials
written by hand, including ancient maps and letters, from the whole Asian
region.

WENNER-GREN FOUNDATION – Hunt Postdoctoral  Fellowships
Deadline: 1 May 2009 and 1 November 2009
Up to US$40,000 (non-renewable) for for twelve months of continuous
full-time writing up research results for publication. Available to scholars
whose PhD was awarded within the last ten years.  These grants support basic
research in all branches of anthropology, and aim to enable a new generation
of scholars to publish significant works that will impact on the development
of anthropology.
 
 
TOYOTA FOUNDATION –Asian Neighbour's Network
Deadline: 13 May 2009 (postmarked date)
Up to ¥120 million over a maximum of 2 years. The Asian Neighbors Program
supports practical, problem-solving projects that aim to resolve the issues
faced by Asian communitiesby addressing: (1) relationships with nature, (2)
culture, and (3) social systems from the perspectives of "relationships with
nature" and "relationships with people." Projects that support efforts to
promote the creation of communities by forming networks with neighbors and
to eliminate obstacles to network and community development are sought.

LINDBERGH FOUNDATION – Grants
Deadline: 11 June 2009. 
Up to $10 580 for research or education projects that make important
contributions toward improving the quality of life through technological
advancements and/or preservation of the environment. Includes arts and
humanities, conservation of natural resources, education, exploration,
health and population sciences and water resource management among others.

PROJECT AWARE FOUNDATION – GRANTS PROGRAM
Deadline: 15 June 2009 for consideration in July.
Eligibility: non-profit organisations, institutions and individuals involved
in activities directly related to the conservation of underwater
environments - both marine and freshwater such as Coral reef conservation,
Shark protection, Sustainable fisheries, Ecotourism, Aquatic education with
a special interest in children. Environmentally focused research should lead
to conservation measures, public awareness initiatives, environmental
assessment and monitoring projects and/or volunteer-support community
activism.

WENNER-GREN FOUNDATION – International Collaborative Research Grants
Deadline: 1 June 2009 and 1 December 2010.
Up to US$30,000 funding for collaborative anthropological research projects
undertaken by two or more investigators from different countries. Projects
must involve at least one principal investigator from a developing country.
Grants cover direct expenses such as travel, living expenses during
fieldwork, equipment, supplies, research assistance, and costs of
collaboration/communication between the investigators.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF AUSTRALIA – Frederick Watson Fellowship
Deadline: 26 June 2009
Up to $15 000 offered on a full-time or part-time basis – preferably
full-time for a maximum of three months or part-time for a maximum of 12
months to make substantial use of the NAA collection. The purpose is to help
established scholars complete an innovative and quality research project of
significance to Australian audiences.

that is significant for Australian audiences and makes substantial use of
the NAA collection.

AUST FEDERATION OF UNIV WOMEN – Qld Branch – Freda Bage Fellowship
Deadline: 30 June 2009
Equivalent to an Australian Postgraduate Award plus 10% ($22 020 in 2008)
for a maximum of three years. Open to all women graduates of a recognised
tertiary institution from any country for full time study. If awarded to an
Australian citizen, the Fellowship is also tenable overseas. If awarded to a
non-Australian citizen it is only tenable at an Australian institution.

country. They are for full time study, if an award is made to an Australian
citizen, the Fellowship is also tenable overseas, if made to a

be used for formal postgraduate study.

IAN POTTER FOUNDATION – Travel and Conference
Deadline: 1 June 2009 and 1 October 2009
$2000 - 3000 travel grants individuals with promising careers and
potentially important contributions in professional development to assist
early career staff who hold an appointment of at least three years to attend
overseas conferences to develop their research and interact with
international researchers. NOT for domestic travel, undergraduates, masters,
or doctoral students or for travel already undertaken.

anthropology that can relate to important public issues.

ASIA-PACIFIC NETWORK FOR GLOBAL CHANGE RESEARCH - EoIs
Deadline: 4 June 2009 for pre-proposals (final deadline in September)
Average grants of US$45,000 to foster global change research in the
Asia-Pacific region, increase developing country participation in that
research, and strengthen interactions between the science community and
policy makers. Proposals must relate to APN research topics and involve at
least 3 countries, at least 2 of which must be developing countries.
