> Security Council  Report has published an Update Report on the Rule of   Law.  >            >          An open  debate on rule of law is  scheduled for 29 June. The debate was  initiated by Mexico in its  capacity as president of the Council and is  expected to be chaired by  the Deputy Foreign Minister Juan Manuel Gómez   Robledo. This is the first time since 2006 that the Council has taken  up  this issue. Among the likely areas of discussion are the promotion  of  rule of law in conflict and post-conflict situations, international   justice and peaceful settlement of disputes and the efficiency and   credibility of sanctions regimes. At press time Council members were   negotiating a presidential statement.
