Facing Our Pain
The Living Memory Project which is establishing an archive of the
testimonies of former political prisoners is holding an exhibition of films,
photographs and documents from the archive at Christ Lecture Theatre, 17
Young Street, Fitzroy, at the Melbourne campus of the Australian Catholic
University. Members of the Living Memory Project team are here from Dili.
The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm daily from Monday 20 June to Friday
24 June 2011.
Please take this opportunity to view this important exhibition, an integral
part of East Timor's recent history and struggle for independence. An
estimated 10,000 Timorese including women and children were political
prisoners during the period 1975-1999. Many were tortured.
The exhibition is supported by the Australian Catholic University, the
Victorian Women's Trust, Victorian Multicultural Commission and private
donors.
Please promote this event to your networks.
