I would like to inform you a book I recently co-authored with the Japanese economist Takako Hamaguchi, on "Timor-Leste: The History and Development of Asia's Newest Nation". It is a story of a country that was able to navigate from conflict to recovery to development in a short span of a decade. Many best practices and lessons could be learned from Timor-Leste's experience by the countries in crisis and post-conflict countries and also international development partners including NGOs/CSOs  The book cover issues related to capacity-building, post-conflict countries, right to development, food security, climate change, gender equality and social protection, investment and management of natural resources, and Millennium Development Goals.  The Foreword of the book is by the Nobel Laureate Dr. Jose Ramos Horta who is now the UN Secretary-.General's Special Envoy in Guinea-Bissau.

The book launch event will be in June 2014 at the UN Headquarters.The book is published by the Lexington Books and there is a flyer attached which gives brief information on the book and its availability to get copies. You may wish to inform your colleagues and friends who are interested on Timor-Leste and also on post-conflict countries.
