About the Pacific Research Colloquium (PRC)

Each year the State Society and Governance in Melanesia (SSGM) Program at the Australian National University brings early career social science researchers from the Pacific (including Papua and Timor-Leste) to a two week intensive workshop in Canberra, Australia, to work with experienced researchers and develop skills for social science research in the Pacific.

Examples of social science research fields include anthropology, development studies, political science or public administration, gender studies, geography, sociology, Pacific Studies, public health, and law.

The PRC is part of SSGM’s broader commitment to building social science research skills in the Pacific, including Papua and Timor-Leste.

A limited number of positions may be available for: (a) Pacific researchers funded by an institution (e.g. university, government agency, NGO), subject to applicants meeting selection criteria, and to agreed arrangements between the institution and SSGM; (b) Early career Australian and New Zealand researchers doing Pacific-related social science attending on a self-funded basis.
