Dear Timor-Leste Research Colleagues

Some exciting news ! The Timor-Leste Studies Association (TLSA) is setting-up a Northern Territory chapter in Darwin – for Darwin-based researchers, scholars and students with an interest in Timor-Leste.

Here in the Northern Territory, several of us Darwin-based Timor-Leste researchers and scholars are keen to regularly meet and share information about research and development activities in Timor-Leste – and following discussions with the TLSA, have decided to set-up a Northern Territory chapter of the TLSA.

In the spirit of the TLSA network, we envisage that meetings of the TLSA-NT will be informal, social, and importantly, provide networking opportunities for local and visiting TL researchers and students to share information and update members about current/upcoming research activities and events in Timor-Leste (and elsewhere).  The TLSA-NT chapter will also allow opportunities for presentations by local and visiting scholars and students.  We also extend a very warm welcome to former members of Charles Darwin University’s Timor-Leste Reference Group (which unfortunately, no longer meets).

The first meeting of the TLSA-NT, primarily to ‘set up’ the chapter (ie. scope, regular meeting times, meeting location, etc.) will be next month and hosted by CDU’s Northern Institute:

·         Thursday 4th April between 2 and 4pm

·         Savannah Room, Building: Yellow 1.2.48

·         The Northern Institute, Charles Darwin University.
