Dear colleagues,
the Italian Government is trying to suppress the Stazione Zoologica
Anton Dohrn di Napoli in the context of the measures which are being
take for the financial stabilization. The Berlusconi Government
considers this prestigious scientific and cultural international
institute as 'useless'.
The scientific community is signing a petition, and I think that the
community history and philosophy of biomedical sciences should also
support and sign this petition. The Naples Zoological Station has
played and it is playing a relevant role in our domain, thanks to its
Summer School in Ischia, the publication of the Journal History and
Philosophy of the Life Sciences, and the richness of its archives.
We could eventually prepare a specific document, but in the meantime
please sign the petition on the web site of the NZS <http://www.szn.it>
and diffuse this information to all the colleagues you are in touch
with.
All the best
Bernardino Fantini
