Dear all,
IMC-ers in Canberra and especially, the HDR Conversation Over Coffee Group
Hope you have all had a wonderful and restful break!
During our last informal get-together in 2022, some of us had discussed attending the Invasion Day rally in Canberra together as a group. This was, of course, as an expression of our political commitments and solidarity first and foremost; but in keeping with our interpretive sensibilities, we also thought of turning this into a site of participant observation and interpretive discussion later on.
It seems that the rally in Canberra has been cancelled (unless I am mistaken) but there are two events taking place: a Memorial Lecture at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy, followed by a festival at Yarralumla.

The Afro-Aboriginal Cultural Showcase on January 26 is a day full of music, entertainment and performances from both Indigenous and African artists and speakers.

Those who are interested in attending together as a group, please email me by 5pm tomorrow. We will leave together from the city/ANU and coordinate further. Others may join us at the event itself, and if so, we can keep an eye out for you. Please bear in mind the first event (Memorial Lecture) requires booking, so please email them beforehand to register your attendance.
Thank you and more soon!
Sincerely,
Heba Al-Adawy
