Hi IMC friends and colleges,
My name is Jiashu and I'm currently a Master of Political Science student at Australian National University.
For those who are on the ANU campus, I would like to ask you to join Critical Forum, a book reading and discussion club about works of critical thinkers in political theory and philosophy from the 20th century. A few ANU students and I are currently the organising it. The members are mostly from Nick and Des' Critic Pandemic class, as many of our discussion topics are related to and extended from the class content.
Generally, we hold meeting every month during the study period. So far, we have held 3 meetings in Semester 2, 2022, and we have covered the works from Frankfurt's school and Arendt so far. Soon we will have our next meeting on 22 March, and the discussion topic will be post-colonialism. We're thinking about expanding the membership of Critical Forum and hopefully can attract wider audience here at IMC Network.
If you're interested in joining Critical Forum please email me so I can put you in the mailing list. If you have any question or suggestion please let me know! My email is jiashu.fang at anu.edu.au. Meanwhile, I'll put the detail of next event below for those who're keen:

Hello Critical Forum members and friends,
Before we all get too busy with the semester, Critical Forum Meeting 4 will kick off at Badger on Wednesday, 22 March at 5:30pm.
This time, we will move our focus to post-colonial studies. The readings of Meeting 4 will be the introduction chapters of Mbembe's On the Postcolony and Chakrabarty's Provincializing Europe: Postcolonial Thought and Historical Difference. You only need to read one of them which you find more interesting, if you're short on time. Mbembe contests discourse on Africa which overwhelmingly focus on the relation with the West rather than for its own reasons and own purposes, and Chakrabarty addresses historicism based on myth of imaginary Europe in post-colonial polities. Both readings are in the attachment.
We believe that post-colonialism has a significant role in critical study field and deserves more focus, not to mention the place known as Australia's active participation in settler colonialism and imperialism.
Again, please consider joining our Signal group chat. Here is the group link<https://signal.group/#CjQKIKph3TTC9yfF8as0XQ0UAPWEu5cqQ1g-WcYIcx0oEmnbEhBlo2uEmPSsQrO-XxoQ3ich>. You need to download Signal app in order to join.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in the first meeting of 2023!
