I wanted to draw attention to a major event for interpretivists being held at the ANU tomorrow:

Jeffrey C. Alexander (Yale University) will deliver a talk “Office as a Civic Virtue: The Crisis of American Democracy” for which John Dryzek will serve as discussant. Alexander is the most prominent American interpretivist sociologist of the post-WWII era, a founder and leading proponent of “meaning-centered” cultural sociology and author of a few dozen books in social and cultural theory, among them the classic The Civil Sphere (OUP, 2006). Professor John S. Dryzek is one the world’s leading democratic theorists and an early advocate of hermeneutic methods in political science.
