Dear IMCers,

Our network is 158 members strong! 😊

Let’s use this space to promote new work in interpretive methods. If you have something coming out which uses interpretive methods, please let me know and let’s circulate.

To that end, attached is the book flyer, ToC and introduction to an anthology of historians in the book series Yearbook for the Global History of Development, examining the continuities between empire and development.

Graduate students often ask me how do we do history in interpretive methods. There are many areas of political science that engage with history, including historical IR and interdisciplinary spaces like global historical sociology.

One way for interpretive political scientists to engage with history is learn more about the methodological questions that historians grapple with. That includes questions of how to periodize and understand historical change.

Some of these issues are addressed in the volume’s introduction.

More soon!
April
