Dear Colleagues,
The Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) is seeking a
Senior Attorney for International Finance. For more than 20 years, CIEL
has used the power of law to protect the environment, promote human
rights, and ensure a just and sustainable society. CIEL's dynamic team
of international attorneys and experts work together in a collaborative
and supportive work environment to tackle some of the most exciting and
challenging issues facing people and the planet.
Over the last two decades, CIEL has built a reputation as one of the
leading watchdogs of the World Bank Group and other international

standards for international development finance grounded in relevant
international norms, especially human rights standards; explore
strategies for raising standards and increasing accountability for
private financial flows and other emerging finance streams; defend
standards in processes that already include them; and monitor the
implementation of those standards, including by assisting communities to
file complaints when standards are not implemented properly. To
accomplish these objectives, the Senior Attorney will work other members
of the team to develop annual workplans, identify and secure funding
from foundations and other donors, and publicize CIEL's work through
traditional and social media.
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with
significant experience in international environmental law and
international finance. Minimum qualifications for the postiion include
a J.D. or equivalent degree; seven to ten years of relevant experience;
exceptional research, writing and communication skulls; demonstrated
success fundraising to support project goals; and the demonstrated
ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The ideal candidate
will have experience with human rights standards and issues; experience
working with international accountability mechanisms; proficiency in one
or more foreign languages; and a great sense of humor. The full
position description may be viewed at CIEL's website
