Title: Common Heritage of Mankind: A Bibliography of Legal Writing (Publicity Flyer Attached)

Summary
Scholars interested in the significance of declaring the seabed beyond the limits of national jurisdiction the Common Heritage of Mankind (CHM) will find this book an essential reference source. This application of the CHM concept was proposed by Malta's Ambassador to the United Nations, Dr Arvid Pardo, in a seminal speech to the UN General Assembly in 1967. Principally aimed at the promotion of world peace and intergenerational equity, his proposal lead to the adoption of the landmark 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea. This success ignited hope for further important excursions into new forms of international law and governance based on progressive concepts of collective human behaviour in a global context. The scope of this book demonstrates the importance of CHM to debates on marine living resources, human genomics, biodiversity, outer space, Antarctica and natural and cultural heritages. It is an essential research and reference tool. CHM is highly relevant to the great themes of our time - sustainable development, comprehensive security and collective management of the ecological commons.
