I'm not going to get into an OS debate with you, but that's an outdated
opinion. All the GNU tools come with Solaris as an optional install
and many of the most neccessary of them are now built into the
Core installation.

I've just installed a pair of T2000's with Solaris 10 and they're
fully operational and released to production within 2 days of arriving
in the box. That's racked & powered in the data centre
and deployed within 2 days of arrival, with all the GNU tools and whatever.

Mind you, I am using N1SPS to do all of this and I didn't even
have to leave my home to do the bare metal install!

Solaris is not a dead end thanks to GNU in no small part and
by Sun's own innovations in a great part, has a very long and productive
life cycle ahead of it....

Anyway, I just thought I would share my Solaris experiences since I thought
I should remind people there is more than one modern UNIX out there....
