... the world of targeted advertising has been around for years, and
online I have yet to see a 'targeted advertisement' which did anything
to make me buy - in fact, I have yet to notice a targeted advertisement
which was anything but an irritation, just like every other advertisement.

Moreover, imagine what happens when the 'search spammers' work out how
the algorithms work? Suddenly the "grey goo" takes over TV advertising;
because I happen to be watching the cricket, I get adverts from eBay
sellers, "Buy Cricket Now! Thousands of Cricket at eBay!" with a link
which actually goes to someone selling lace tablecloths, one of which
had a picture of a cricket on it but has since been sold ...

Is there a reality pill the world could give Eric Schmidt?
