Couldn't agree more - the word has gone overboard in waste, and
packaging.
I've not taken a photo, but I once received a package that contained
4 rubber stoppers (the ones that keep dropping off Apple laptops),
with dimensions of around 3.0 mm (radius) x 1.5 mm (height).
The items arrived in a standard Apple parts package (small,
apparently) which has external dimensions of approx 240mm x 180mm x
55mm.
The packaging tape alone weighed more than the items. When I
questioned the stupidity of using a container with more than 150,000
times the volume of the items delivered, the reply came: 'This is our
smallest delivery package - any smaller and we wouldn't be able to
track the item'.
And for what it is worth, I've taken delivery of an SD card via mail,
in an envelope, including the mandatory GST invoice - some people
appreciate that packaging is wasteful.
