The only stuff that goes in our council waste bin is plastic
wrappings. Food is composted (or given to the pets if it's any good! Saves
buying pet food) and paper and cardboard are used either as part of the
composting process or for fuel for the fireplace or as mulch for the garden
or as stuffing for packing of shipments and parcels :) Oh and
nappies. (Paper biodegradable type, we don't buy the plastic ones.)

Metals are collected and stacked neatly for the vultures to collect every
council clean up time. At least I might add 50 cents to their trade.

Bottles and cans are put in the recycling bin collected fortnightly. And
any spare paper or cardboard we have in oversupply is also put in, but
that's rare.

That's really it. We're pretty light on for environmental use. Even out
water is low consumption for a 6 person family with a pool. Electricity I
keep slowly converting to solar. Nearly everything technology wise is
either 12 volts or battery operated (with the charges run off solar power)

We can't do much more really.
