AFAIK, a taxi driver *must* abide by any directions you give to
arrive at your destination.
There are other stipulations, like the driver cannot cherry pick patrons
and ask where you are going before you step into the vehicle.
But (big sigh) rules and obligations are one thing and reality is
quie another.
