[LINK] Is it Gb or GB?

I've always wondered about the difference between a solidus and 'p' -  
my science upbringing (SI units) led me to believe that the two were  
not interchangeable, and that people who wrote kph or kmph (?) should  
have learnt to use km/h. And that mph is simply an anachronism...
