The time at which a communication occurred is arguably part of the
"substance" of the communication. Likewise the parties between which the
communication occurred, or information from which the parties can be
inferred. The method, extent and frequency of communications between two
parties are also arguably part of the substance of their communication,
in that they may allow inferences to be made about the substance.
