[LINK] Stealing the election

I think the most interesting aspect about these election fraud stories, is
how much of this we avoid in Australia simply by having compulsory
attendance at a voting booth on election day.

It removes at about half the potential for fraudulent elections, as well as
reducing the enormous funds that need to be spent by American political
parties, just to persuade their supporters to vote -- so it is has a
secondary value, of reducing political dependence on wealthy individuals or
companies.

Did anyone notice the story about Federal politicians getting free Pay TV
services (and probably the TV sets to play them)? I wonder how many of them
also have free mobile phones, like the one that Brian Burke was handing out
in West Australia.

So much for my opposition to indiscriminate police wire-tapping. How on
earth did they know to tap this phone ?
